Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a Bi-Xenon Projector?
Bi-xenon means having dual beams functionality i.e. both low and high beam capabilities in a single xenon HID bulb. A projector projects the light in a controlled pattern, created from the HID bulb, causing no glare for the oncoming traffic at the same time, brighter visibility for the driver
The Projector is what actually emits the light through its reflector and lens setup. The concave reflector reflects the Xenon HID Bulb's Arc Light towards the front lens. A cut-off shield limits or shields the light output so it doesn't blind oncoming drivers or create excessive glare by creating a sharp cut-off.
A bi-xenon solenoid is directly connected to the cut-off shield. When activated, it simply lowers the cut-off shield electromagnetically with a 12 volt power supply to create a high beam light pattern
Why do I need a projector if I can buy only the HID bulb and simply replace the stock halogens? This would be cheaper as well!
The factory halogen reflector in your car housing is specially designed to control the beam output originating from a halogen bulb. A halogen bulb creates 360 degrees of light due to it's use of filament. The HID bulb on the other hand has no filament and does NOT emit 360 degrees of light output. So when the same halogen reflector is used to control light from an HID, the output is severely deteriorated giving Hotspots, un-desirable beam pattern and excessive glare to the oncoming traffic.

2. What is colour temperature?
Many people believe that the higher the colour temperature, brighter the output. However the colour temperature is purely a scale (in Kelvin) to measure the colour of the light output. On the contrary, output brightness of the bulb decreases with increase in Kelvin temperature with 4300k having highest lumens and 12000k on the lower end having little or no visibility at all.
3000K - Strong yellow output, ideal for use in fog lights or foul weather. The yellow light cuts through rain, snow, sleet & fog more effectively than a white light
4300K – Regarded as OEM colour for HID setups, technically offers maximum light output in terms of brightness. Produces off-white output with an yellow tinge, resembling sunlight
5000k – Genome Recommends - Classified at “Pure White” output no colour hues of yellow or blue. Supposed to be the closest temperature similar to natural daylight and which pleases the human eye for an effortless driving experience
6000K - Produces a crystal bluish- white output. More attractive visually but lesser brightness with ~8% drop in lumens from 4300k.
8000k – Produces a distinct blue color light with brightness 10% lower than 6000k
3. Why HID Xenon Bulbs?
The light output from a 35W HID Xenon lamp is 300% more brighter than 55W halogen bulb with more consistent illumination of the road
HID's can be 10x more intense: (HID = 202,500cd, Halogen = 21,000cd)
HID produces white light that is safer as it is closer to natural daylight; Increases visual comfort & reduces fatigue when driving at night
6X Longer Lasting. No need to replace for life of the vehicle (HID lifetime = 2500hrs, Halogen = 400hrs)
35% less power consumption, thus generate much less heat during operation
HID lighting improves durability by 10 times as road vibrations can cause damage to halogen filament
60% of all traffic accidents take place in poorly lit conditions. HID Projectors produces superior beam pattern with more wider and farther visual field with Enhanced peripheral vision
4. Difference between HID Kit and Projector HID Kit
HID KIT
PROJECTOR HID KIT
Difference
Stock Halogen Bulb is replaced by HID Bulb
Stock Halogen bulb is replaced by Projector assembly of Lens, HID Bulb, Reflector Bowl and Solenoid
Uses existing headlight reflector for lighting
Uses its own reflector for better controlled illumination
Physical Shifting of Bulb for upper & lower beam. Causes uncontrolled scattering of light during high beam
Presence of Cut-off Shield, which controls low and high beam, without scattering the light output
HID Kit Advantage
Easy & Quick Installation
Projector has to be installed in the headlight assembly followed by alignment
Cheaper in Price
Comparatively expensive because of complex technology
HID Kit Disadvantage
Creates "Hot-Spots", Glare & Un-desirable beam pattern as original Halogen reflector DOES NOT support HID Xenon bulbs because output characteristics of both bulbs are different
Projector uses its own reflector, which is specially designed as per out characteristics of HID Xenon Bulbs. Hence NO Hot Spots, Glare and Controlled Beam Pattern
Output Beam is Scattered and Blinds the Oncoming Traffic, making it unsafe for driving
A cut-off shield limits or shields the light output so it doesn't blind oncoming drivers or create excessive glare.
Is banned in 45% countries. Indian RTO to impose complete ban with few states already complying to protocol
Is street legal, Preferred technology in all luxury segment cars,
Affects Visibility during rain and foggy conditions
Projector Output focuses light on the road with no scattering, hence cuts through rain or fog
Frequent complaint of decolourisation or burnt-out / blackened (original) reflector due to direct impact of high temperature inside headlight assembly produced by HID Bulb
High temperature is absorbed by the projector assembly, leaving the car reflector safe and reusable. No harm inside the headlight assembly
